When President Ezra Taft Benson presided over the Europe in the 1960-ies, he invited President Alvin W Fletcher of the Sweden Stockholm Mission to attend a youth conference in Germany. Back home to Sweden, President Fletcher took initiative to arrange a large youth conference for the Nordic countries. All leaders were exited.
In 1966 the first Festinord (Party in the North) was arranged in Stockholm. With 600 in attendance.
The following Festinords were held in Copenhagen Denmark 1967, in Oslo Norway 1968, in Borlänge Sweden 1969, in Aalborg Denmark 1970, in Skien Norway 1971, in Borlänge Sweden 1972 and so on.
The age limited was from 14 years old and young married couples were also invited.
